She takes songs such as Skibbereen, Irish Laws and Irish ways, removes the original focus of the songs written by people passionate about the cruelty they and their people have suffered, pulls a sad face and excretes her bastardised version of something originally that had meaning. Luckily enough for herself, everyone drinks it in; "Oh look, she sings sadly then speaks aggressively to the media upon popular (or more more likely obscure, as obscure is cooler) issues.
So there you go. Sad songs about Ireland with Ireland half removed from them reflect our culture well, all thanks to Sinéad O'Connor. The plastic paddy with the least shame to date. Wonderful.
As as side note, I have started a blog elsewhere detailing Irish politics, although I don't think this particular rant is really serious enough to go into it.
